Zhang Jinliang



Brief Introduction

 Zhang Jinliang, born in Shouguang City, Shandong Province in November 1962, is a BNU Professor and a Supervisor of Ph.D. candidates. He graduated with a Bachelors degree in July 1983 from East China Petroleum Institute (China University of Petroleum (East China), majoring in petroleum geology. He then graduated from the Beijing Graduate School of East China Petroleum University (China University of Petroleum (Beijing), majoring in petroleum geology, in June 1986, with a Master's degree. In June 1990, Mr. Zhang graduated from the Department of Petroleum of Chengdu Geology Institute (Chengdu University of Technology) with a Ph.D. He was promoted to the post of Lecturer in July 1990, Associate Professor in July 1993, and Professor in July 1996. He has been the Laboratory Director, Director of the Teaching and Research Room, Vice President, Director of the Research Institute, member of the CNPC Education Steering Committee, and Deputy Director of the Shandong Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Engineering Research Center. He is currently a professor at the College of Resources Science and Technology at Beijing Normal University and a supervisor of Ph.D. candidates researching oil and gas resources who are majoring in natural resources-related work. He also serves as deputy director of the Institute of Resource Exploration and Surveying Engineering and head of the Department of Resources Technology. Concurrently he also supervises Ph.D. candidates majoring in marine geophysics at Ocean University of China, and he is the supervisor of Ph.D. candidates majoring in mineral resource prospecting and exploration at Shandong University of Science and Technology.

 

Over more than twenty years, Professor Zhang Jinliang has been engaged in the teaching and research of major oil and gas exploration and development, has initiated many courses -- including "Petroleum Geology," "Reservoir Sedimentology," "Oil Field Development Geology," "Geostatistics," "Reservoir Engineering," and "Oilfield Modeling and simulation Technology. Over the past five years he has averaged 280 teaching hours every year. He has published a variety of teaching materials and books, as well as more than 200 academic papers, among which more than 30 papers were collected by SCI and more than 70 papers were collected by EI. He presided over and completed one first-level subject of the National Key Project in Science and Technology (National Support Scheme), four second-level subjects, three subjects of "Project 863," and more than thirty key topics regarding oil companies. In the past ten years, research projects completed by Professor Zhang have won more than ten Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology awards, and he has been awarded a number of software copyright registrations and multiple invention patents.

 

After years of hard work, Professor Zhang Jinliang has gradually developed many stable research directions for Master's degree study and doctoral training, including the "theory of oil-gas reservoir formation and evaluation technology," "reservoir geology and reservoir description technology," and "development geology and remaining oil tapping technology." He was the first to propose sedimentology theories and models in China, including lacustrine facies tempestite, flood rock, terminal fan, among others; he took the lead in establishing a single petroleum-inclusion analytical system to determine the critical moment of oil and gas reservoirs; and he has introduced and developed various research techniques, such as reservoir description technology, reservoir dynamic analysis technology, geological modeling technology, reservoir simulation technology, and analytical technology for the inclusion of oil and gas. The promotion and application of these theories and technology concepts have not only provided an important basis for increasing the reserves and production of oil fields but have also contributed remarkable economic and social benefits by enhancing the oil recovery ratio of the high water oil field.
